Harrow Night

Game in development for HG-GJ: The HealthyGamer Game Jam (September 2025)

Meant to be played in full screen. You can adjust the volume in settings as well as in the pause menu later on in the game. If in full screen, press escape twice since itch.io uses escape key to exit full screen as well.

Morgan is an aspiring comic artist with inattentive-type ADHD. Her desk holds a few half-drawn books but her head holds a hundred competing ideas. Days slip, pages stall, and the work she loves starts to feel far away. She tells herself, “Five minutes”, lies down, and—like many of us—wakes into a different kind of busy.

Her dreamscape opens.

In Morgan’s dreams, the unfinished pages become places. Adventure into the Lapin Forest, a warm, slightly absurd woodland where you meet Mr. Flynn, a jaunty guide who nudges without nagging. He teaches the basics: pen-taps, levers, and cautions against the monsters, including his brother, Sir White.

Search the forest for Sir White, a half-drawn hare who would rather be complete than forgotten. His fight is about seeing a task through. Defeat him and color blooms; you earn the Lapin Sigil—both a key and a promise kept.

The Clock Tower opens once you get the Lapin Sigil, where Lord Hightopp's bell awaits. The bell has stopped tolling and the gears have gone out of control, ever since Morgan abandoned this comic. Conquer this platforming nightmare and help Morgan see it through to the end!

Remember you’re not here to fix Morgan. You’re here to help her finish her comics, one small win at a time.

This game is great! I really liked the vibes. The art and writing were so good, and they get you in the action quickly. The gameplay is fun, and the songs are really good too and add to the ambience. I wish I could keep playing but I'm encountering some frame drops in the large room where you first enter an underground area.

Also, the voice acting adds a lot! I really liked that you added that.

Thanks for playing! We could'nt optimize the big rooms in time sadly haha

That makes sense, and I figured that was the case. This was my first game jam and the number of times people suggested things that were out of scope drove me crazy. But your game, I'm amazed that you did all that within the time limit. If you ever fix the optimization issue, I'm excited to play more!

Update to my comment - because I realized that a lot of these games run poorly on Chrome, and retried today in a different browser.

I was able to complete the game! And I have a lot of thoughts.

The art direction and vibes were so good! I can't believe I went from a bedroom to a forest to underground to a clock tower. That was awesome. The clock tower was a nice reward for getting through the boss. The boss fight itself was really fun and creative!

I also enjoyed the clock tower portion much more than the forest section, mainly because it was frustrating to bonk my head on a wall above me, and that actually be the right way to progress. Also, the visual clarity of the vines were sometimes hard to see (I recognize that the vines have red roses, which helps for sure). The clock tower platforming was more challenging, but felt more fair and more fun as I knew the timings for the gears ahead of time and I could see them super clearly. The forest section also had parts where I wish I could look down to see where the vines were before plummeting to my death. The fast respawn was really nice for that, though!

Overall a fantastic short demo that was very satisfying to complete!

Very visually appealing, great artwork and sound! I dont really play platformers so I am really bad at this haha. I thought I could get this done before my 2 AM bed time but I died at least 50 times already, will definitely try to beat it tomorrow! Had a blast so far! Awesome work!

Thanks for playing!

im REALLY bad at platform games but its a super cool concept i like it a lot!
